2004-06-06 [Farewell]: well in our realm of the emerald knights contest, we kept it off of this page altogether untill we had a some entries. did some advertising is several peoples houses and in some club wikis, and when it came time to vote, we had over 60 votes in 2 days. our contest was limited entry, but the principle should work the same regardless. but we had a good response due to real prizes too. some of these contests just arent very well organized.

I think separating fanart contests is a bit odd, theyre still art just the same as everything else here arent they? The page is getting a little insanely big (yay!) but separating fanart is not the way to go about minimising it.... only in my opinion, of course.

If you're trying to cut down on page size, why not make them ALL their own section, instead of just picking on one category? The Fanart section isn't even the biggest section, so taking it out wouldn't really cut the page down *that* much.

A lot of those contests go unnoticed because they're mixed in with all the others. :o Most of them have very few entries as it is. 2004-09-12 [Arany]: ok. i was thinking we could move all the fanart contests, not just the fanart section (there are some in the new, deadline set, voting, winner anounced sections) because some of us just like to generally draw, while others are totally obsessed with say X-Men and draw mainly fanart; [Adnama]'s idea with a section for badges' contests is something in that way as well - some people may love to fool aroud in photoshop rather than doing something in specific and they could be interested in designing badges; this way we would have the sections separated on interests

Most wiki pages are 'oversize' and a page like this changes, sometimes there are lots of contests and its oversize, sometimes its not. I for one am fine with it remaining the way it is, but if anything has to change i say move the contests that are no longer open for participation, not single out a type of art.

2004-09-12 [dshwshr55]: I agree with Silverfire. Fanart contest and the people who make them are the only ones who benefit from this. That way it'll be easier for them to find what contests they want to enter, rather than sifting through every contest on ET. I think anime itself is a huge category as well (but you can find all anime contests at the anime guild ~_^). I'm with Kaimee's idea. Separating between closed and open contests is a lot more rational and benefits everyone.
